Q 1 – What’s your favorite local record store?
Q 2 – When did you start collecting?
1995 with strictly Nirvana stuff. Then I inherited my fathers collection in 2009, he was gonna toss em.. By 2012 I was collecting newer releases. Underground bands started to revive vinyl around then
Q 3 – How many are in your collection now?
200-ish
Q 4 – What’s your favorite or most prized vinyl record in your collection?
A signed 12″ Nirvana – Smells Like Teen Spirit (by all 3 members. Kurt Cobain included)
Q 5 – Most recent record purchase?
My daughters wanted “Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge” by My Chemical Romance
Q 6 – Do you prefer black vinyl or colors/variants?
Colors and variants are my favorite. They look super cool. People argue black sounds better but I can not tell a difference
Q 7 – What’s your favorite album from a band/artist you’ve seen live?
Converge – Jane Doe OR Snapcase “Progression Through Unlearning”. I can’t decide? I discovered both bands in the same week and love them equally for different reasons
Q 8 – What’s your biggest want/grail?
I know its rare, but not super rare – but the banned version of Guns N’ Roses – Appetite for Destruction. With the not so taseful cover artwork
Q 9 – Who is the most represented artist/band in your collection?
The Gaslight Anthem or Lucero.
Q 10 – What’s your audio setup?
Technics SL-D33 Fully-Automatic Direct-Drive Turntable, Powered M-Audio Studio monitors and some sort of old mixer my band used as a PA. I also sometimes run it through some of my Marshall guitar speakers
When I was moving that SL-D33 fell from the top stack of my Jeep. Still works perfectly. They don’t make things like they usto haha.
When I lugged home my fathers collection in suitcases from Texas I saw this blonde long-haired dude in the ATL airport. Turned out it was Gregg Allman and Jamo. I had “Eat a Peach” on my possession and showed it to them. Gregg said “I have not seen one of those in a very long time”
“Still we sing with our heroes, 33 rounds per minute” -Brian Fallon (The Gaslight Anthem)
